Star dressing room

Just finished my effort at making a corner of the bedroom into a glamorous dressing room for A. It was a massive nightmare to fit the light strips round the mirror without any wires showing. They're all hidden behind the mirror.

Back in the Lab

Sitting in a hot laboratory reading A & J's blogs I can't help but notice the difference alcohol makes to the quality of writing. J mentions alcohol in her blog a lot but tends to not write it when she's completely mullered. I suspect A will delete her entries when she re reads them so now is your chance to read them before she does.

The reason A was so wasted is she went out with her mates whilst I went to K again to do a locum. I think I may have actually had a better time. I did an apendicectomy all by myself. I've done it before. It is my eighth or ninth solo apendix now but this time there was a difference. The difference was confidence. It was on a fat bloke it was horribly stuck to posterior wall of the caecum and the omentum was wrapped round it. Everything was bleeding and oozing fatty juicy stuff. I couldn't see a thing down this deep dark hole which welled up with blood every few seconds. But I got the tip up to the skin surface and bit by bit freed it from its adhesions slowly delivering this monster apendix out thankfully in one piece. It was a tough one but I looked at the clock and it had been 45 mins and the first album I put on was still playing (Summer Breeze one of those free compilations you get with Sunday papers these days). I put the appendix in a glass specimin pot and firmly screwed on the lid until the rubber gave a satisfying squeek. I had got through it, in reasonable time without swearing under my breath the whole time and sweating profusely like my first few. I wrote my op note and went to sleep on the sofa in the mess and remained undisturbed for the reast of the night. I would do it for free its the best job in the world.
