Breast Cancer
How do you make a blog entry that can encompass how utterly shit and unfair life can be sometimes. When you reach a point in your life when you feel so happy that you have to pinch yourself to make sure you’re not dreaming. As a card carrying devoutly committed cynic I was watching myself thinking something will fuck it up. Your willing it to be wrong. Well something definitely has fucked it up. Cynicism rules, more’s the pity.
On Friday last week A’s breast lump biopsy result came back not as a fibroadenoma as I was expecting but instead as a grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. Therefore A will have at least a third of her left breast removed. She will also need a six week course of radiotherapy and depending on the sentinel node biopsy result possibly a completion mastectomy with axillery clearance and chemotherapy.
A has continued her blog so I guess I have no excuse. If it weren’t for that fact I think I would have stopped writing. Words can’t describe how utterly furious I am with the universe.

Life does carry on Gorgeous and I'm afraid we have to deal with everything that gets thrown our way.
Fortunately you and I have a lot of things going for us which puts us in good stead to deal with this crap well. Or, Well, crap.
Relaxation IS a skill and we both need to do a lot of more of it over the coming weeks. Lots of love xx
You are a very brave man to face up to your fury and share your pain and A's pain with those of us who care. I, for one, have been moved to tears by following the course of your life over the past few weeks as you move from being 'over the moon' when you 'popped the question' to this wretched news about A's breast cancer. Yes, how 'shit and unfair life can be' But how wonderful that you haven't stopped writing, that both you and A. are engaging us all - through words - in your struggle. At the very least, we can offer you some kind of support - in words on your blog site, in practice if needed and if we're at hand. You are both in our thoughts.
